Manage customer expectations, influence key technical decisions, promote architectural principles, and lead communities of practice around key technologies.
Engineer, deliver, and support all aspects of an AWS Cloud environment in alignment with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and enterprise architecture and security standards.
Debug cloud-based distributed systems hosted on AWS.
Architect, engineer, deliver, and support infrastructure solutions as code (IaC) using Terraform and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
Lead performance management, logging, monitoring, reporting, and management of Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) while ensuring compliance with security policies and audit requirements.
Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple teams or departments.
Promote and foster a DevOps mindset to support a transition to a Cloud-Native environment.
Provide architectural guidance to ensure cost-effective cloud operations and contribute to anticipated cost savings.
Collaborate cross-functionally with other industry experts and develop broad technical proficiency.
Configure key core cloud technologies such as OpenShift, Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MuleSoft, Ansible, and others as needed.
Recommend, design, and configure VPCs, account management structures, routing, and security protocols within the cloud infrastructure.
Develop high-level infrastructure architecture in collaboration with enterprise architecture, security, and application teams.
Create both high-level and low-level infrastructure designs in partnership with AWS, DevOps, application, and security teams.
Own and lead the overall infrastructure architecture for applications deployed in AWS.
Understand application architecture, AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, and logging/monitoring tools within AWS.
Participate in architecture review board (ARB) processes and obtain necessary approvals.
Document functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring full traceability.
Define and document the "definition of done" and obtain requirements sign-off.
Lead and document high-level architecture (HLA), high-level design (HLD), and low-level design (LLD) in collaboration with communities of practice, application teams, and security.
Break down work into sprint-sized tasks that can be executed by individual team members.
Assign story points to tasks to facilitate agile planning and execution.
Hold teams accountable for delivering solutions aligned with approved architecture, in collaboration with security stakeholders.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical leadership to ensure delivery aligns with application and architectural requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and 7–10 years of experience in infrastructure support, delivery, engineering, and architecture
Includes 5+ years of experience in cloud design, configuration, and support (AWS preferred)
Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant experience may be considered
Demonstrated experience working with FedRAMP and Federal Student Aid environments
Strong experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), including CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance
Advanced experience in DevOps and DevSecOps environments
Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodologies and tools such as Atlassian JIRA
Deep expertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including:
Billing
Core cloud technologies
Redshift
Elastic Load Balancers (ELB/ALB)
Performance management and monitoring with CloudWatch
Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs)
Advanced experience with Azure Core, tenancy management, and billing
Proficiency with MongoDB
Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL and NoSQL database technologies
Experience with container technologies such as OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes
Proficiency with IT automation tools like Ansible
Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including:
Terraform
Ansible
Scripting in Python, Bash, Perl, etc.
Expertise in MuleSoft, JBoss, Kafka, and API Gateways
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to stay current and act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the following areas:
AWS Core and IaC
Kafka
NoSQL databases
Availability to provide final-tier support for a 24x7x365 operational environment
Experience mentoring, coaching, and training team members in areas of industry expertise
