Position Overview:
The Virtualization Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise virtualization environments, with a focus on ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, and security across virtualized infrastructure. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert for VMware technologies, driving lifecycle management, automation, system stability, and cross-functional infrastructure integration while providing technical leadership and operational support.

Position Overview:
The Virtualization Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise virtualization environments, with a focus on ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, and security across virtualized infrastructure. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert for VMware technologies, driving lifecycle management, automation, system stability, and cross-functional infrastructure integration while providing technical leadership and operational support.
Duties:
- Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize VMware vSphere clusters, ESXi hosts, and core virtualization infrastructure.
- Administer and optimize vCenter Server operations, including templates, host profiles, distributed configurations, and environment standardization.
- Implement, support, and troubleshoot VMware vSAN environments, including storage policy configuration, performance tuning, capacity planning, and issue resolution.
- Architect, configure, and maintain VMware NSX-T networking and security components, including micro-segmentation strategies.
- Manage and support VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments and integrated platform components to align with enterprise architecture standards.
- Perform lifecycle management activities using VMware Lifecycle Manager (vLCM), including upgrades, patching, compliance tracking, and environment maintenance.
- Develop automation and orchestration solutions using VMware Aria (vRealize) Automation, Orchestrator, PowerCLI, and scripting tools to streamline infrastructure operations.
- Monitor system performance, conduct root-cause analysis, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal environment stability and uptime.
- Maintain security compliance across virtualized environments through access management, system hardening, auditing, and adherence to operational standards.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, storage, and application teams to design and deliver integrated technical solutions.
- Create and maintain technical architecture documentation, standard operating procedures, disaster recovery documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and participate in on-call support and incident response activities.
Required Skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience administering VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter within large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise with one or more advanced VMware technologies, including vSAN, NSX-T, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), or VMware Aria Suite.
- Proficiency with PowerShell and PowerCLI automation for scripting, orchestration, and systems administration.
- Strong understanding of enterprise compute, storage, and network architectures in complex infrastructure environments.
- Experience performing capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management for enterprise virtualization platforms.
