Position Overview:

The Data Analyst will manage metadata, maintain the client's Business Glossary, and enhance data governance functions. This role requires experience with SQL, metadata tools like Purview or Informatica, and a strong understanding of data modeling, governance, and security practices.

Required Skills:
  • 2 years of experience working as a data analyst collecting, organizing, and managing data using tools such as Purview or Azure Information Protection
  • 2 years of experience with SQL and an understanding of data and systems' infrastructures
  • Azure and/or Data certifications; 2 years of experience in a big-data environment or data security
  • Knowledge of data governance and security practices
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages, and data tools associated with big-data processing projects
  • Strong ability to create Excel formulas and managing complex spreadsheets, (experience working with Pivot tables and other analyst tools as a plus)
  • Familiarity with Data Protection technology capabilities such as data discovery, data labeling, data inventory, CASB, Microsoft Purview
  • Information rights management, and data loss prevention
Duties:
  • Responsible for the maintenance of a data catalog and business metadata associated with strategic data assets
  • Support the build out of data taxonomy, data dictionary and business glossaries of data assets
  • Support on-boarding of domain data sources to the data catalog
  • Work with business analysts and solution designers to identify critical data elements and capture the metadata relating to them
  • Oversee the maintenance of metadata artifacts, reporting and escalating where appropriate, resolving issues, gaps and inconsistencies
  • Document the lineage of data from creation to output, ensuring that the information is useable and meets the business needs
  • Complete metadata and data quality audits, act on findings as necessary, and report audit progress
  • Respond to questions from various teams, troubleshoot issues, and update metadata as needed
  • Document and maintain classification and sensitivity standards.
  • Use Power Platform to automate agency work.
  • Utilize task tracking tools such as JIRA to keep stakeholders updated on progress
  • Perform self-management tasks such as: monitoring progress, providing summaries of progress, assisting in risk identification, and monitoring mitigation responses
  • Perform assigned duties to assist the Office of the Chief Data Officer or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. May be required to work during hours not regularly scheduled for work, as directed by the supervisor.
