Network Security Engineer
Position Type: Hybrid
Hybrid Schedule: 3 days onsite
Contract Length: 2 months + extension
Position Overview:
The Senior Network Security Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of secure, high-performing network infrastructure. This role emphasizes proactive threat prevention, network optimization, and adherence to security protocols to ensure reliability and protection against unauthorized access.
Duties:
Monitor and analyze network data traffic patterns to ensure optimal performance.
Identify and resolve network problems, recommending improvements as needed.
Address network quality issues and mitigate degradation.
Stay current on security threats (e.g., worms, malware) and advise on prevention strategies.
Ensure reliability and stability of network operations through continuous monitoring and improvement.
Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other appliances in compliance with security standards.
Monitor security measures within the network perimeter to prevent breaches.
Respond to complex technical issues with urgency and escalate as necessary.
Coordinate with teams to find and implement solutions that enhance end user satisfaction.
Monitor trends in network incidents and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
Provide network design services for existing and new infrastructure.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams to define the scope and technical approach for network changes.
Ensure compliance with established network policies and procedures.
Manage production and disaster recovery network environments and associated security.
Perform forensic and packet analysis as part of network diagnostics and threat detection.
Configure and manage network security monitoring and logging systems.
Required Skills:
5 years of experience building large-scale, multi-site network architectures.
5 years of experience with secure remote access and WAN technologies, including IPsec and VPN.
Demonstrated knowledge of network-based and system-level attacks and mitigation methods.
5 years of experience working with firewalls such as Cisco Firepower (NGFW) or Cisco ASA Firewalls.
5 years of experience with security routing protocols.
