PROJECT & POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our client is seeking a Data Architect to lead the successful design, migration, and optimization of databases for a cutting-edge Microsoft Dynamics implementation. This role involves leading the design and transformation of legacy database systems to modern, scalable architectures that seamlessly support Dynamics 365. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess current data structures, recommend improvements, and implement efficient database solutions that align with business goals.
Your responsibilities will include architecting robust and future-proof database models, ensuring the migration of large-scale datasets with minimal disruption, and optimizing performance for both transactional and reporting needs. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database design, migration strategies, and integration with enterprise software such as Microsoft Dynamics, as well as experience with cloud-based database technologies. You will also play a key role in ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance throughout the migration process, ultimately ensuring that the new system is not only more efficient but fully aligned with business operations.
POSITION SUMMARY
A Data Architect, or an Enterprise Data Architect, designs and manages centralized, end-to-end data architecture solutions. Their duties include determining strategic data requirements, creating designs according to these requirements and ensuring that the company’s data architecture aligns with its business needs.  The Data Architect will review the current database landscape, (ETL)transform into a structure that can be migrated into the new database (likely Microsoft Dataverse) using various Azure toolsets into some of the prebuilt Microsoft Dynamics Sales, Customer, etc. tables AND design new database tables/fields for apps that are not within the Dataverse prebuilt tables.

Core Responsibilities
  • Creating diagrams that show key data entities and creating an inventory of the database tables, procedures, etc. needed to implement solutions.
  • Experience with database design, data integration/aggregation, metadata management, database administration and performance tuning within Microsoft Azure Cloud and Microsoft SQL databases. The current database is MS SQL Server 2012 and the plan is to move to the modern database.
  • Formulate the organizational data strategy, including standards of data quality, the flow of data within an application solution, and security of data.
  • Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating business requirements, applications, and programming.
  • Oversee and execute the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
  • Write database migration scripts to migrate data from multiple legacy databases.  
  • Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features.
  • Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.
  • Install and organize database to guarantee company functionality.
  • Create and maintain a repository of all data architecture artifacts.
  • Adhere to Agile principles and philosophies in fulfillment of the role.
  • Educate staff members through training and individual support of the database structure.
  • Performance tuning and optimization of the new platform.
  • Administration and configuration of database security of the new platform.
  • Administration and configuration of database backups of the new platform.
Required Skills:
  • A minimum of 5-8 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 integration and architecture.
  • Strong proficiency with Azure cloud technologies and services.
  • Expertise in Dataverse and its integration with Dynamics 365.
  • Experience in using data modeling tools.
  • Database scripting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of database structure systems and data mining.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with technical and business users.
Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or relevant field.
