Job Title: Data Modeler
Location: Hybrid, Central PA
Employment Type: Full-Time, 6 month RTH


Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler to design, implement, and optimize data models that support enterprise applications and analytics. The ideal candidate will have expertise in relational and dimensional data modeling, PostgreSQL, and AWS data services, with the ability to collaborate across development and analytics teams. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and the ability to work independently while keeping stakeholders informed with proactive updates.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and maintain PostgreSQL data models to support business applications and reporting.

  • Develop relational and dimensional data models optimized for performance and scalability.

  • Optimize and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for efficiency and reliability.

  • Collaborate with application teams (.NET, Angular) to define and document data requirements.

  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality across environments.

  • Support and maintain AWS data services including Amazon RDS and Aurora.

  • Contribute to data reviews and provide insights for improving data solutions.

  • Implement version control practices using Git for database schema management.

  • Provide transparent progress reporting and proactively communicate risks or delays.

  • Apply performance tuning and monitoring practices for cloud-hosted databases.

  • Support data modeling for Tableau and other reporting tools.

  • Leverage ETL concepts/tools to support integration and data movement.

  • Write scripts in Python for automation and data processing tasks.

  • Document and communicate data architecture, design decisions, and standards.

  • Manage multiple assignments effectively, maintaining timelines and quality.


Qualifications

Required:
  • 3–5+ years of experience in data modeling with relational and dimensional approaches.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with AWS cloud data services (RDS, Aurora).
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proactive in reporting status, risks, and progress.
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
  • Exposure to ETL concepts and data integration tools.
  • Experience supporting Tableau data models for visualization and reporting.
  • Knowledge of cloud database performance tuning and monitoring.
  • Basic Python scripting skills for automation.
  • Exposure to .NET and Angular environments for cross-team collaboration.
  • ​​​​​​​Strong communication, organization, and time- management skills
  • Strong knowledge of relevant reporting tools and methods
  • Assist with creation of different reports (e.g., provider-specific reports) created from data collected/reported in the system

Preferred:

  • Experience with additional AWS services (Redshift, S3, Glue).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for database changes.

  • Background in data governance and compliance best practices.
